The short version. Intercom is a customer communications platform built for support organisations, with a help desk, outbound messaging, product tours and a large integration surface. AidEcho is narrower on purpose: it reads your website, answers from it with the source attached, and hands the conversation to your team when a person is needed. If your support load is mostly repeat questions your own site already answers, the narrow tool does that job with less to configure. If you need the whole communications suite, Intercom is the one built for it.
01 / Side by side
A support team in one product.
Both answer customers on your website. The difference is what the AI is allowed to say, and how much of a real support operation comes with it rather than costing extra. It is a long table on purpose, because "AI chat widget" badly undersells what is actually in the box.

The row worth pausing on is the third one. An assistant that invents a refund window is worse than no assistant, because your customer believes it and you inherit the promise. Refusing is a feature, and it is the reason the rest of this table is safe to switch on.
Compiled August 2026 from each product's own public documentation. Intercom ships quickly, sells several products under one name and changes with configuration and plan, so treat their column as a prompt to check rather than a verdict.
02 / Integrations
Where the answers come from, and where they go out.
Two halves. Sources are the places your assistant reads from, so it knows your products, policies and documents. Channels are the places it answers, so a customer can reach you where they already are rather than where it suits us. The plan is one assistant behind all of it: connect a source once and every channel gets smarter, add a channel and it already knows everything.
Below is the whole surface, marked honestly. We build in public and we would rather you knew what was shipped before you signed up than found out in front of a customer.
| Sources it reads | Status | What it unlocks |
|---|---|---|
| Your website, whatever built it | Live | Answers from every published page, kept current on a schedule |
| Files you upload: PDF, Word, Excel, PowerPoint | Live | Size guides, policies and specs that never made it onto a page |
| WordPress, RSS and Atom feeds | In build | Posts and help articles, including member-only content |
| Dropbox, Google Drive, FTP | In build | One folder, read only, kept in sync |
| Notion and team wikis | In build | The internal pages your team already maintains |
| Commerce: Shopify, WooCommerce, BigCommerce, Adobe Commerce, Shopware, PrestaShop, Ecwid, Lightspeed, OpenCart, Etsy, Amazon | In build | Live price and stock, filtered search, recommendations, offers, order lookup |
| Booking: Calendly, Cal.com and others | In build | Real availability, offered and held inside the chat |
| Your own source, over our API | In build | Anything the list above does not cover |
| Channels it answers in | Status | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Web widget on your site | Live | One snippet, any platform, no plugin |
| Handoff to your team, on the Desk | Live | Routing, notes, whisper, SLA timers |
| In build | The thread most customers already live in | |
| Instagram, Messenger and Facebook Pages | In build | Messages and story replies, no inbox to watch |
| Your mobile app | In build | The same assistant inside your own product |
| Email, Slack, phone overflow, Google Reviews | In build | Answered from the same source of truth |
What that means for a decision today. If you are buying to answer questions on your own website from content you already publish, both tools do that and we are quicker to set up. If you are buying to run WhatsApp and Instagram support this quarter, Intercom has more of that surface finished right now, and that should outweigh everything else on this page. We would rather lose the sale than have you discover it in week two. See what connects today ›
03 / Choose Intercom
When they are the better answer.
Worth saying plainly, because a comparison page that finds no reason to pick the competitor is not a comparison, it is an advert.
- You want support, outbound messaging, product tours and a CRM in one tool rather than several.
- You run a large support organisation with tiers, shift handovers and regional SLAs.
- You already have a mature help centre and a team that maintains it.
- You need deep integration with an existing enterprise stack.
- Your buying process needs a vendor with an enterprise procurement track record.
04 / Choose AidEcho
When we are the better answer.
- Most of your support is the same questions, and your website already answers them.
- You want to see the page behind every reply, and you want the assistant to refuse rather than guess.
- Your team is small enough that "who picks this up" matters more than a ticket hierarchy.
- You want to be live this afternoon, not after an onboarding project.
- You sell in more than one language and cannot staff for all of them.
The refusal behaviour is the part people underrate. An assistant that invents a refund window is worse than no assistant, because the customer believes it and you inherit the promise. How cited answers work ›
Questions
The ones people actually ask.
Is AidEcho a replacement for Intercom?
For a small team whose support load is repeat questions already answered on their own website, usually yes. For a large support organisation running tiered queues, SLAs across regions and a full CRM, no. Intercom is built for that and we are not pretending otherwise.
Can I run both?
Yes, and some teams do while they evaluate. They are two snippets on the same site. If you do, put them on different pages rather than the same one, so visitors are not choosing between two chat bubbles.
What about pricing?
We publish ours in full on the pricing page, including what counts as a message. We deliberately do not publish theirs, because seat and resolution pricing changes and a stale number here would mislead you. Get it from Intercom directly.
How long does switching take?
Adding AidEcho takes minutes: add your site, let it read, paste one snippet. The work is not the install, it is deciding what your team wants handed to them and setting up routing.
Try it on your own site.
The fastest way to settle this is to point it at your website and watch what it answers. Free to start.
